Lil' Bernie and the Lil' Bairns

I'm Lil' BernieHello Everyone! I'm Lil' Bernie. I'm the Mascot of Lieutenant-Colonel John Lilburne's Regiment and, more importantly, the friend of the Lil' Bairns - our Lil' Bairnscompany of younger members. Just because you're little, doesn't mean that you can't have fun in our Regiment.

In Lilburne's we all understand that what the adults like isn't always what you children enjoy and so - since nobody likes to be bored - Lil' Bairns sets out to make sure that that you children will be entertained and enjoy seventeenth century life and games together and there are also lots of other activities when the whole family and Regiment get to play together so that Lil' Bairns are able to draw on the expertise of the older members of the Regiment to ensure that everyone has a great time.

I have my very own fun page in our Regimental Magazine - "Lil' Bernie's Shout" where you can find puzzles, jokes, letters and articles from the other Lil' Bairns of the Regiment.

Here's what some of The Lil' Bairns say

"I love being in the Sealed Knot and Lilburne's Regiment has the most exciting events ever. We get to visit some really great places all over the country in the summer and in the winter I love going to the banquet because we put on our best gowns. Everybody sings and dances and we all have a great time!"
Katherine (Aged 12)

"I love doing drill with the grown ups and learning how to fight with a sword. I already know how to fire a musket . We get to sleep in a tent and we always have loads of fun - being in Lilburne's is really cool!"
Adam (Aged 11)I'm Aunti Lil.

The Officers and adults of Lilburnes actively encourage the older children to join in with The Apprentices at Armes who provide safe and supervised activities and training opportunities for those young members of the Sealed Knot aged between 12 and 16 years. Any young person may enlist in the Apprentices at Armes in the year that they celebrate their twelfth birthday, (that is to say that any young person whose birthday is on the 31st of December 2002, may join the Apprentices on the first of January 2002 and enlistment is free of charge.)

For more information about The Apprentices at Armes please click here

Please note that membership of the Apprentices at Armes is only open to those young people whose parents or guardians are members of the Sealed Knot Society.
